I like Facebook, it tells me things I want to know. Recently, as in just now, I saw a link on Facebook to a ‘International Suit-Up Day’ event. The idea is people dress up in suits and act classy and try to be cool. I don’t see how people think this is a good idea, very few people in my opinion can pull of looking good in a suit; Daniel Craig, Sean Connery, James Bond no doubt. Joe the Plumper average does not look good in a properly fitted expensive suit let alone his only and favorite over-sized Peter Jackson number.

I don’t understand why people would subject themselves to this sort of punishment, do they simply not realise that an oversized suit makes them look like a rather dull time-traveling David Byrne without the strange charisma or musical genius? I look at the facebook event thing and there’s a photo of that player guy from ‘How I meet your mothers,’ do they think that somehow by wearing a (Peter Jackson) suit they will suddenly become suave.

If I spend a whole sunday eating cake and sitting on the couch watching tv, BUT do it at somebody else’s house, does that count as me being out and about or does it count as an ‘off’ day? I think maybe it is a bit of a gray area. Sort of in a weird social spot at the moment, spent like almost all of last week hanging out with one fancy lady or a couple of other fancy friends but I didn’t really do anything zany or partying I jut chilled really hard.

I feel this is probably a good friend since I am re-enforcing and creating serious bonds, and also Rebekah made me cake, but at the same time I sort of feel like I should be out and about doing crazy, arty things that young people do. I really want to own more double breasted jackets with big lapels (via pea coat) and other fancy clothing, sort of wish if people saw me on Gertrude street they’d be like “hey, that Bro is totally chill,” but at the same time I don’t really want to be friends with shallow people like that.

I think maybe appearing externally arty and busy and creative is enough. Maybe I should buy a zine?

Skinny tie

Wearing a skinny black tie at the moment, it came with a shirt I bought. I’m wearing that shirt too, it’s a bit rough on the inside, it was cheap. I’m a little unsure about the tie, I think it’s cool but I suspect it’s actually not. This sort of bothers me because if it’s not I don’t think it’s to be ironic and therefore cool. Sort of like hip to be square but real.

Hip to be square is a little miss leading because rob McNamara was square and he was pretty unhip although apparant he was sorry for the whole Vietnam thing. hippies and bongos are pretty shit but some people think they are pretty ok things which is wrong in my opinion.

McNamara died recently, not that many people seemed that sorry, some people need to get over ‘Nam, I think this is strange because people venerate/are pretty keen on jfk and he was the one who hired him/thought he was a chill guy to hang out with maybe have a brew and listen to grizzly bear.

Sort wonder if jfk only hired him based on his good threads/good resume and go getter attitude. I wonder if he wore skinny ties, it seems like the right period?

I’ve just had a pretty great weekend, stayed at a house by the sea. Ate a lot of meat via Bacon and Egg breakfasts and drank a lot of alcohol. It’s nice to be reminded just how great your friends really are and to just chill hard with them while drinking nice cocktails.

Pretty much my favourite thing was having bacon, eggs and a cup of tea made for me on saturday morn (Actually every morn but Saturday was best). Not really sure why but put me in 1000% good mood. I suppose it’s just nice when somebody does something for you unconditionally like that.

I tend to get a bit lazy when I go away though, I freak out that I don’t really do much in the way of cooking or cleaning or really being very helpful. I sometimes think maybe I could do a bit of cooking but I’m really not very good, I tried to get involved with Saturday dinner but instead I broke a bunch of cocktails glasses with a lettuce and spent 30 minutes cleaning up the tiny shards of glass. Sorry guys.

Also I love heated tiles, warm. Sort of like, Hannah’s sleep talking. Amusing.

Going to try and write some more blogs soon but I keep getting a little distracted at the moment.

Hrmm, feels like its finally time to dramatically fly/fall out of the family nest. Not really sure what exactly I’m supposed to do, a beautiful bird told me that I should just do the move in with strangers thing but that seems a bit shit to me. I have nice things I don’t really want stolen plus I don’t really want to be lonely or make new ‘friends’, the thought of actually looking for share-houses makes me get distracted and is a good way to be a productive blog writer. I think I’m sort of ignorantly/stubbornly holding onto the idea that somehow all my other friends will want to move out or change house in the near future.

The whole thing is rather distressing to be honest, Where do i beginning looking? What do I even want from a house? What locations would I like? Can I be close to be close to my friends? Do I want to be? Will it burn down? I’ve got the point where I want to leave but haven’t considered or decided on anything else.

Maybe I’ll just save and buy in Portland.

A friend of mine reminded me last night about this guy we met at a party last New Years. He was this awkward looking black guy, I wasn’t really sure why he was at the party but I didn’t care because I was under the influence. This was all and well until he started talking me and then kept talking to me until he decided he wanted to so me his comics. I don’t care for comics at all, they sort of seem like the teenager’s ‘art form’ so this rubbed me up the wrong start away however turns out he drew pornographic comics. He thought it was pretty awesome but I was kind of confused.

I suppose in retrospect I should of asked him if he was trying to be subversive, you know like culture remixing or something and being post-modern, “Yea, remix culture, this is the bit where Mickey Mouse has sex with roadrunner, how you like them apples Walt/Warner bro?” he would of said. But instead I think I got a bit awkward and ran away.

I sort of wonder though why anybody would think it was appropriate to show me their home-made pornographic comics, do i look like a connoisseur of fine draw pornographic wares? I don’t think I’ve ever looked like some sort of deviant, maybe a little weird or something but never like pornography maniac, I think maybe he was struggling for conversation, I’m sure I was being slightly rude.Did he think maybe I’d be impressed by his lacking drawing ability and that i’d give him some pointers? “Yea, the shading of Snow White’s lady bits is sub-standard, what you need to do is…”?

Maybe he thought I’d some how get turned on? as opposed to you know, being a little revolted. Did he get turned on? Who invited him to the party, maybe he lived there…?

Hrmm, I can’t think of anything worthwhile to right about at the moment, like a defined idea. My mind is really quite busy with thinking about people I like or fancy or things that are coming up in the future or how I’m going to resolve some sort of drama. I went to a nice pub today, it had a lot of nice photos and posters but everything was sort of scattered all over the walls and it was kind of messy, I sort of feel like that a little. I had nice company but honestly they made me feel a bit confused.

I don’t know, developments in my life have turned maybe a little bitter sweet and I’m not really sure that they can be reversed or that I’d want them to be. I just want a cultrally relavant but also authentic love life, is that so much to ask for?

Sort of just feeling a little weird. Getting an iPhones from work tomorrow though…
